While the new site is already live, there are still several tasks pending that will take several days. You may experience slowdowns of the site, delays in notifications and sometimes problems with uploading.
If the backlog becomes too big, I’ll have to temporarily stop web traffic to give the server a chance to catch up.
If you go to any voting thread in the weekend challenge forum, you’ll find that all the image attachment links are broken. I’m guessing that this forum handles images differently.
Hi, I’ve noticed a few problems with the new site:
All messages in my inbox and archive folders are gone (but everything in the sent folder is fine).
One of the threads I made is complete gone from the forums entirely. Specifically, the BPPlayer thread (link). It was previously in the resource section under game engine. It has a lot of information and history with over 800 replies. Could someone restore it please?
As a side note, I also noticed that my user name changed. Previously, it was “C-106 Delta”, but now it’s “C-106_Delta” (notice the underscore). As a result, I was having a hard time logging in the first time . I hope this helps anyone else who has this issue.
Can confirm the above inconsistency / bug in FF, but works as normal here (this thread).
Edit cause still blocked wtf?: @sourvinos Start date is in thread only atm, why so important? Starter is first circle, hover over or hope for a distinctive memorable avatar. Last poster is last circle or first if not. First lines tend to be static mostly, don’t get the attachment.
@NinthJake Current tab load seems to be the same old behaviour, for me at least? Can a browser setting / addon / script change that for you?
Where are all the attachements we used to have a sort of library. Now when i want to attach something i dont see that menu and the current upload doesnt work. Takes ages and then after a minute or maiby more it spits out “error uploading”.
I also get a lot of 504 errors, server time out. Perhaps due to a lot of users. BUt i dont understand why suddenly there would be more users then normal. I didnt get a notification of the change for instance, which is quite bad i think. So i was a bit baffled that the switch was already done.
I see now, i didnt understand the new notification system. It seems highlighter is already read and no blue bar is new. Thats sort contra of “regular” highlighting system. You should adjust that and make it better readable. Perhaps different colors or methods of highlighting what is a new post and what is read already.
Suer a lot stuff will be polished over the coming weeks. Great job! Must be super hard job at the moment as tons of people are complaining, including me. I think its just getting used to it. Bite through it. This new version has tons a nice features and also the mobile ready is super!
It’s impossible to open them in new tab or window. Usual shortcuts like Shift / Ctrl Click doesn’t work, and the Right click menu doesn’t show anything about how to open those links.
On top of that :
I think it would be nice to have in that menu a little something for each notification for “mark as read”, and also a “mark all as read”. That would be handy.
That’s typically called gamification and it’s becoming very common in modern discussion boards. Though there may be a way to turn them off. In vanilla forums it is a plugin, not sure about discourse - can’t be bothered to google it right now.
