I’ve been learning a little more about UV texturing. I’ve also being getting more use to GIMP. I know it still needs some details and it’s by no means ready but I wanted to show my progress.
With my last renders, many complained that the skin was too smooth. I know the lips still need a lot of work but what about the skin. Is it still too smooth?
You may have seen the procedural skin WIP thread here last week, the image I posted in it used a light colored texture with a slightly darker colored cloud texture over that, and a noise texture that affected normals. It looked very good, though not perfect.
Looking at it again… the front view looks fine, but the side view is what bugs me… that roughness shouldn’t appear over the whole side of the head like that, only where a beard would be… or are they freckles? If they’re freckles the entire head should be covered in them.
