La Virgen de Juquila, Oaxaca, 3D jewelry design

4K render made with Cycles X 3.2

This design is the most recent custom jewelry request I was hired to do for 3D printing. The figurine is the “Virgen de Juquila” from Oaxaca, Mexico. The real jewel will be made in gold, the real size is 5 centimeters. The weight is around 50 grams
The design is based on the real sculpture (pictures from the Internet), I adapted some shapes and removed the two angels from under the abrigo (they don’t fit well at a jewel scale)

85% of the design was made using Blender 3.2 - A lot of mesh modeling and also sculpting

The base was made usign 3Design CAD V10 as arrays are a lot faster in other softwares

The STL for 3D printing without optimization came out at 2.12 gigabytes    :joy: … after optimization the STL is 100 MB … It takes the same amount of time to model everything than to optimize it   :joy: :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face: (almost true, this kind of design is not easy nor fast to optimize, a beginner easily crashes the software, destroys the topology, runs out of memory or can’t perform the booleans properly… that’s why in general I don’t run out of work)
