Lamborghini Diablo SV

Hi, I just want to show you my latest work. It’s the Lamborghini Diablo SV, one of my favorite cars. Actually it’s still WIP but it is to complete to post it in the WIP section. Rendered with POV.

excellent model- cant wait to see it textured

Woohooow!
Great model!

Very nice.

Only suggestion would be to put something in behind the front grille/air opening, as you can see right through it now.

Definitely can’t wait to see it textured as well.

BgDM

BgDM, I think on a Diablo SV you should be able to see through as it is an air intake/spoiler, not a grille. [EDIT: I was wrong]
Excellent model.

Thanks guys. BgDM, indeed this car needs some additional work. It will get a chassis and the air intakes will get some tubes so that you can’t see trough it. Currently I’m working on the interior.

:o :o
Good work

Great model! It should still go in the WIP forum though…

argh. I would like to render this model so much… 8)
anyway. Great model. How did you do it? Nurbs?

Hi Hannibar,

No, I didn’t use Nurbs but something like ‘spline cage modelling’ in Lightwave - without splines … I just build a cage with verts and build the faces. Then I used SDS to get smoothed surfaces. After all I added verts and polys when I thougt it was neccessary (e.g. to get sharper edges).

Oh, if one of the Blender developers are reading this: Blender NEEDS the possibility to split polygons in two, three or more parts - like Wings3D can do that!!! This is an essential feature to make complex models with subdiv. surfaces. To export the mesh to Wings is no solution, because

  • Blender > 2.25 (?) can not import VRML 2.0
  • sometimes you need this feature again and again and it’s a pain to export the mesh, do the work, reimport it, export it again to add some polys, import it again and so on.

The other way to achieve this is to delete the edge, rebuild it by pressing the ‘f’-key and subdiv it by pressing ‘w’ and rebuild the new faces. And to repeat this procedure for every edge you want to split. This is a pain, too.
In other 3D-apps poly-splitting (in combination with edge or face select tools) is a common feature (in Lightwave it is called ‘Bandsaw’). Blender is the only one I know wich doesn’t support this.

Io great work !

Can we have a wireframe of tha job ?

Thx a lot !

Really nice, but need some more work

Xtra: If you do a search in the Pyhton forum, you should find a sort of bandsaw script the S68 made. I have not use dit, but I know what you are trying to do.

It should be implemented into Blender. I have LW and I love the bandsaw tool. makes life a lot easier.

Would be nice! I’ll do a search.

Yes, yes and yes! And you can be lucky to work with LW! I love this software but I cannot afford it and as far as I know there’s no Linux version available. Anyway, I like Blender, too.

awesome

Nice model. And I like the lighting too.

Yes, Blender needs “Split polygon” function and "Normal extrude, and face/edge bevel, and… :-? Maybe it’s lot easier to make a model in Wings, then export it in VRML and edit in Blender. Or use 2.23 and IO Suite… But now, we are off topic here, I think :-? %|
