Lamborghini hover speeder

Hey guys, I had an idea for a 8 second futuristic establishing shot and needed some hover vehicles. My line of thinking was that early prototypes of hover technology would be used mainly for military applications, possible mass transit and luxury vehicles. So I pulled a bunch of images of Lamborghini’s and Bugatti Veyron’s and mashed them all together into what is represented. Currently I’m pretty happy with the end result.

How’s that for a node tree?

I was having some creative complications in trying to resolve the back end section since the speeder would need thrusters instead of a regular aerodynamic bumper.

Then after some fun with Cycles based procedural textures I was able to come up with some descent paint textures.

Now on to the interior for now.

pretty cool. are the thrusters air-flow based? seems they would need massive air intakes somewhere.

The rear thrusters are supposed to be air flow based. The lower ones I was thinking would be either sonic or resonate magnets. My theory behind it is to use the earths natural magnetic lines as highways. So the lower sonic/resonate magnets give you lift while the rear thrusters give you momentum. The sonics are dolphin friendly of course.

oh ok. sounds cool.

Here I’ve added the 3d model to a matte painting that I did a couple weeks ago for the shot. Ultimately I’ll have other air traffic and some cg hero grass to add photo realism.

Added some cycles rendered “hero” grass to the foreground for better blending.

Added some more cg buildings and a bridge.

I also did some ambient lighting with a sky texture and turned down the hard sun lamp.

rendering looks great; i would change the position of the speeder so we can actually tell what it is…

Thanks. I only positioned it where it is currently to make sure the foreground grass was overlapping correctly. Ultimately this will be animated with the speeder swooping over the hills heading toward the city. Thanks for the feedback though.

Here is a mist pass for the scene. I think its pretty.

This will be composited to control atmospheric haze to give the shot more depth.

Here is my node tree for the final composite so far.

Here is one of the images from the sequence. Pretty happy with the outcome so far.

Great so far, but you should make the grass shiver when it passes above it…
