landscape animation examples with blend files (in french)

have a look to
http://thierry.kobyleski.free.fr/

the films are quite big so you may prefer to render the blend file first. (there is several scenes in each blend file).

Awesome, the honolulu observatory is my fav!!!

And thanks too for including the .blends, i definatly will enjoy having a look at your techniques!!!

Cheers!!!

Matt

Blend on, and blend well!!!

awsum movies…!

some basic models ( I have seen much better then this) but the landscapes are absoluty breath taking, just marvelous, great fantastic. the movies are quite nice.
anyway keep of the good work and the potential is there.

Thanks for posting the blendfiles so that we could study them.

the key for understanding the landscape in the blend files is the following:

1°) the “yosemite” landscape uses spherical images which is the best technique. these images are made once for all the animation if you don’t go too far from the center of the sphere.
2°) more precisely there is two half spherical images , one for the sky and one for the land just because the sky needs less details.
3°) a complete spherical image can be done with no more than 10 views of a landscape generator (for example terragen), then you stitch them together with the wonderful “panotools” (http://www.panoguide.com/software/reviews/panotools_v21.html)
4°) the center of the sphere should be low enough to see ground details, and high enough to see everything (no hiden place)
5°) the terrain mesh (.ter file) is imported in blender from terragen with ter2blend (http://users.skynet.be/sky33676/ter2blend1.html) but all the above point a different technique than the one proposed in ter2blend (I render the animation within a night, and it would take a month or two with the ter2blend technique (but the ter2blend technique would give an even nicer result))
