I’ve been working on a lantern as an exercise. Sorry about the incomplete render. Please leave criticism as I would deeply appreciate it:

I have seen laterns and candles. I know they look different in diffferent climats and altitudes. In my climate and altitude in Florida of the United States, the flame would be much smaller. There would be a glow. You should be able to see the wick and flame on the wick. I think you might be using a bad color range, and this is making the flame look big.

Looks like you’re modelling a cold blast oil lamp.

Here’s an example of an oil lamp, a center draft. Not the same as yours, but should give an idea about the flame.
It’s kind of hard to see the blue portion of the flame, but it’s there.
