This is a cool material on the ground. Could you elaborate a little on it. How did you do it.
Seems like you used displacement-mapping on the ground, so the colors of the texture and the peaks of the mountains coincide. But tell more. Looks really cool. The car lacks some details, though…
well, first off, there is NO displacment mapping! none, i dont like it! no offence to coders, i just like to be able to see my creation in the 3d view!
its modeled with fractsubdiv and PET lol, thos are my fav tools. the texture is like 3 layers of clouds and 1 layer of marble. i THINK theres a level of magic.
the car does lack details, severely, but its my first car, and im gonnawork on it, i prolly wont UV, ill vertex paint.
BGDM, how could i establish a sense of scale, its supposed to look IMENSELY HUGE. and i will darken it, tommorow moring (its a project at school)
Shrink the car to about 0.001 it’s current size. That should make it all look bigger.
The ground looks beautiful, and stronger lightning will only make it look better. I can already see this style being “borrowed” a lot (coughMe toocough).
this is the last of the short render times update, right now it takes about ten min, after im done itll prolly take somewhere around a half hour, cause im gonna fract subdiv the 16660 vert mountains… lol
tell me what you think about the colors, lighting modeling, EVERYTHING!
its nice to have reflection on the car
the only image texture is the sky, which i created myself.
ive got a subdiv-2 GI dome (spotlights parented to an icosphere, and ive got a blueishgreen backlight, a white light right in front up high, and an orange light in front over towards the right. anything else?
Nice. It’s sorta reminiscent of the first Motorcross Madness game… to me atleast. Um the scale seems similar to that as well, when I played Motorcross Madness I used to feel as if I was riding up and down huge mountiains ans ravines in a 200 scale motorcycle. Besides that the bottom right of the image seems to have a strange greenish tinge, I don’t know but I’m guessing this comes as a combination of the grounds material and the blue light from the sky/world.
Really nice image however.
