I spent about an hour on this. Modelling time was about 2 minutes

I like it. The texture on the sticks doesn’t seem to have any shadow on it though, it looks a little flat.
Judging by the ammount of shadow beneath the sticks, there should be some on the sticks where they meet the floor surface.
Looks cool besides,
Sonix.
Thanks. I think the lack of shadow on the sticks themselves might be down to the position/angle of the lamp and/or the angle of the spot beam.

Any more C+C?
its kinda boring… adde something too it
I agree
Thanks for commenting. There isn’t really much to add. It’s meant to be drumsticks. Until I model a drum kit or something suitable I don’t intend on making a scene. What do you think of what is there?
Update:
Not much different at all. Shadows are slightly different.
That actually helped quite a bit… although right now it looks a bit like your sticks are floating rather than laying on the ground.
Yeah you’re right. It’s strange because it’s very close to the surface. :-?
Drumsticks look nice. It has a smooth clean look to it. You might wanna dirty them up a bit to get a more realistic look to them. I modeled drumsticks once in a snare drum render and I had a texture on it that made them look used. And one more thing. Maybe put the logo of the brand of sticks on it to make the sticks more realistic. Nice work though.

Welcome to the world of Blender shadows. To get round this happening, experiment with the following Spot settings:-
Increase the shadow buffer value, bigger = better but slower render times.
Adjust the clip start and clip end values, so the start is about 1 unit above the sticks, make the end point just below your floor plane, again experiment.
Increase shadow samples to 16
Increase the Bias and soft values. Again experiment with values.
Using more spots will help too. Duplicate your spot then select all similar spots, hit Ctrl L and choose link Lamp data from the menu. Then when you change the settings for one lamp all of the linked ones will change too.
Hope this helps,
Sonix.
Thanks for the comments
Vogetoemon: My reference was a pair of brand new sticks but I like the idea of making them look used. I’ll try that. Thanks I might try the logo too!
Sonix: Thanks for the tips! I’ll try it out now.
