Learning Illustrator -- Question

Here’s a screenshot of what I’m doing:



I’ve used livetrace on both objects (the one in front and the one behind). But I want to get rid of the white space around the thing in the front.

I can not for the life of me figure out how to do this.

If anyone could help, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Use the ‘white arrow’ select the white area from within the grouped livetrace. then delete it.

You may need to have ‘Expanded’ the live-trace before this will work, i am not sure on that.

Live trace traces the white areas also, so they are just closed shapes like dark areas are.
