I’ve decided to tinker with Bezier curves to make branches for a tree. Is there any tutorials I could use to learn how to make branches out of these curves? I’m looking for a better way to make the branches and trees by hand.
you really didn’t need to get software, if you just hit spacebar and type screenshot, Blender will come up with its own internal screenshooter, the hot-key is ctrl F3
and Blender Cookie! look at my earlier post, there is a link
That I didn’t know GJ. I’m still learning the ropes after all.
As for making the Bezier curve like Mordon suggested, I’ve been tinkering with bezier curves. I’ll put two screenshots up - one for the solid curve and one for the wireframe. I haven’t been in the mood to be online for two days now, and I’ll post them when I get a chance.
or just press shift+printscreen and then just paste into your favorite image software and save
I went ahead and made screenshots of the Bezier curve, following Modron’s instructions. I think it turned out pretty well. I’ll continue to work with the curves to make a tree, and when I get done I plan to post the tree to this there

Thought I’d add what I’ve done so far with the Bezier curve. It isn’t much, because I’m still working on the first branch, then possibly duplicating. It looks a bit weird (I think…), but it now looks more ‘organic,’ just like a real tree should be. This is giving me a great deal of practice that I’m needing, and I hope to get even better soon.

it’s looking good. it’s probably better to make the new branches by duplicating a vertex in edit mode and extruding from there, in case you decide to use the treefromcurves script on it. also i imagine it cuts down on memory usage somewhat to keep it as one object. if you want a good tut for the script, check @ndy’s site called ‘mindfields’. i think there is one there.
(edit) also, you can take a screenshot with blender by pressing ctrl F3 ( render active window ).
I’m just starting to look up the TreeFromCurves script, and learn how to use it Modron. It looks easier than doing it by hand. For whatever reason, I seem to have a desire to do this by hand. I shouldn’t, and I know it isn’t necessary. Maybe on some level, I feel I need the practice on this, but I’m not certain. I’m looking up how to use the script from the wiki on Blender.org, the website for the software itself. I know I still have a lot to learn, and a long way to go. I’ve also been tinkering with making a castle, which I’ve been doing by hand also. I do get the general shape of a castle on that project, but it can be difficult at times. Getting things to line up correctly on a castle can be hard when doing it by hand.
