So… LEENKX…

I hear you can cure cancer and dance with unicorns in AI online experience with some magical nodes now. We can do ENYTHING :smiley: What’s going on? The talk sounds… Well… weird. A bunch of promises about limitless possibilities? All the buzz words… Open source, AI experiences, data, apps, cross platform, servers, resources, library of nodes, online experience, CMS, IDE… Nothing to show though because they didn’t have time for something something and footage of something something is mysteriously not available. Why? How? How were they allowed to give a talk? What’s going on? Does anybody know anything?

It sounds hollow or dodgy, but they had a booth at BCON and the presentation. Not sure how safe it would be to allow an outside entity to control Blender on your computer. She’s serious, but he’s high or drunk.

That was emptiest room of the day. I looked in, saw the vibe and left. There is not a single thing about them that isnt a red flag

Might be orders of magnitude safer than paying for their subscription or workshop. This might be even worse than it seems.

This might not fool many CG professionals, but just think about Blender being free and open source and its user base. Even children use it. BCON might be helping them reach their target audiences very effectively. It’s really scary.

I don’t think many children are watching BCON, it’s really just hardcore nerds that already know better (like me)

To an extent I agree, the intentional misspellings in product names are getting out of hand now since the easy grabs have all been taken.

And they still manage to ensure the name ends with one of those ‘cool’ letters like X or Z.

It’s not easy to watch. But it’s worth it. I made 3 attempts. I found that at the end there is an advertisement for some sort of resort and she tells what food they are going to serve and what not and they will do cooking class as well apparently. Wow.

This whole thing is a blight on an otherwise excellent conference. I hope this kind of thing doesn’t happen again

i put it on on the background while i did other stuff… there was lots of eye rolling and shaking of the head on my part. :smiley: i wonder what he bribed his wife with to do this. lol

I had to watch it out of curiosity, well flip through it.

Here is my take on it (total speculation)

2 days before the presentation the someone from Blender got a sneek peek.

The presenttation was full of copyrighted logos and media and had little to do with Blender.

So they said “hang on you can not use this media here if you do not have written permissions/affiliation from all those companies.”

This left the presentation empty of content, except a screen shot of a few nodes and publicity for their “workshops”.

The gentleman got made and “drowned/smoked his sorrows” vowing to not do the presentation.

The lady, being more pragmatic said “no we have to do the presentation anyway, to sell the workshops”

The result is the red flag presentation.

I can not help seeing a connection between all this and Ton’s presentation of the 3 boxes.

End of speculation.
