I am trying to help some less wealthy youngsters into the Blender fold, and I need to know the hardware requirements for 2.79b, since they probably cannot afford the requirements for 2.8. Is there an old page somewhere that shows the 2.79b requirements? I can find the download and lots of documentation, but for some reason not the requirements to run it…

I noticed that, but is that all? 2.8 has pretty detailed reqs, and I seem to remember 2.79 having that, too back when I leveled up last!
