Good luck. If I were you, I focus on a little demo level, as opposed to a full MMORPG. I know it’s alluring, but an MMORPG is a colossal project. Before recruiting a team, I’d develop your idea a bit more. Design a little demo level. You may have lots of enthusiasm out of the box, but drop out rates are extremely high. Just my advice.

Yes , I know that hard work , make an MMO game is really hard , but I think if I recruit a good team , with our help , we can make this a real game.

And , for make this no confuse , the game is an MMO but , via matches , as I sayed , similar to Lost Saga.

Thanks for your advice , I finished the base of a human , not finished , because this reason I not will show this , I will show the human model when this is finished.

Good luck on this, I’ve seen so many say they are going to make an MMORPG, but none of them got even close to an RPG… And about the online part… I don’t want to be rude, but to be honest, I don’t think you make a chance at all (at least not yet, few years of practice and hard studying… and you might make a chance, but that still doesn’t mean anything).

But I really do wish you good luck on this, because I would really want to see an MMORPG made mainly with Blender.

I have been making an MMORPG for over 6 months now. My whole team ditched me a few months in  It will be hard for you to keep your team members, unless you are very organised. I still plan to finish my project, years and years from now. I have a couple C++ programmers, as I am integrating Blender with Ogre3D, which is my recommended course of action for you. Especially for the online part of it, you are going to need an engine other than Blender, which uses Python. That will not be strong enough for an MMORPG. Good luck

Thanks for the hope and for the advices , I’m thinking to use Ogre3D , but I still going alone to make my project (L0L) , I hope ppl will enter to my team

Make a little demo level, get people excited. Think about it this way - you are competing for team members with other games. People will flock to the most exciting games - it’s human nature. You have two very basic untextured props, and a bunch of text, which people will skim. People want to see flashy graphics, or a video showing something in process. I don’t mean any offense by this - I’ve started and stopped a few game projects. It’s just how it is. Cool graphics - ok, I’ll read the story ideas. I’ve had plenty of people join my game without reading much at all, just based on the graphics - here’s an inn from Ayleth (my game), by the way:

You have to fire people’s imagination, and impress them with your skill. You have to make people believe they will get something for their work. Good luck. Ask questions if you have any. I’m good with modeling and texturing, bad at most everything else.

I think you’re getting alittle too much over your head, try to simplify first. An MMORPG is indeed a grave undertaking, let alone making one game out of stratch from 3D programs. But, it’s recommended if you start from square one, such as starting your project in a simple genre first(Such as adventure). With enough experience, you can start to take more serious tasks like making a single-player RPG. Expend your TOD franchise first with simple games or animations, and people might be more interested to participate, and your franchise might just as well survive long enough to make a hit.

You already have the enthusiaism, which is good for large ambitions such as this thread, but you’ll need expert game scripting knowledge, figuring out how to network your MMORPG, leadership skills for working with other MMO enthusiaists(Unless you have every knowledge of those requirements, then I have nothing to say.)

Basically, start small first before you head to projects such as these. Create a ‘portfolio’ big enough that you have fanboys crying for better games.

If you have the determination to start like that, then I say go for it. Just be prepared to learn from your experiences along the way. =)

I strongly agree. Trust us. Make a little demo game first.

I’m finishing the first map and when I finish the map I will animate a simple character (not the original characters , of course) and I will make a video and some screenshots of the first map testing , the login screen sketch and some skills.

Thanks all for the hope , and I will finish this MMO , I’m 100% filled in. (If all goes fine , I think in middle of summer I will release the game , and before this, I will shut up a Alpha Test -> Closed Beta Test -> Open Beta Test).

Tales of destiny is a playstation 1 game, i think that you ll need to change the name!

Yep A very Gooood gametoo xD my brother has it

I’m OWN3D haha.

If I have problems with copyright I will change the name of the game in the future.

Change it now. Don’t give people any bad impressions - remember, you want people to join.

Name changed to Legends of Destiny (LoD)

Level of Detail! Love it. Nobody will get confused at all. Ha!

Build a fully functional network platform before you do anything graphical. You’ll need a central server to handle everything, client software, efficient traffic management, security protocols, lots of error handling, etc… Succeed with that and you’ll have no trouble recruiting people for the rest of the game. 99.9% of MMORPG projects fail. It requires a whole lot more than just blender to build a game of this type, and experienced people will want to see evidence you understand what it takes to get things up and running. Artwork is the easy bit.
