Hello! I need feedback from my fellow blenderartists to improve the look of these lemons. Once they are looking good, I would be happy to make a tutorial on how to create realistic fruit textures if anyone is interested.

And by the way I did not use SSS in the lemon material. The material is mostly hand painted textures.

Looking forward to your critique,

If it weren’t for the fact that they’re lemons I’d have said they were sweet. As it is, I’ll go with “awesome”. The detail is really realistic–the only thing that would make it better is if there was a glass of lemonade to go with it.

My first impression (before I read ‘And by the way I did not use SSS in the lemon material’) was it needs SSS because the specular highlights don’t look quite right.

Other than that they look good.

awesome, i would love too see how to got the bump map texture to look exactly like a lemon should look like. the imperfections/dents are real cool.

Skyler: Thank you.

Uncle Entity: To tell you the truth, it was right after I finished the lemons that the thought of using SSS actually occurred to me. I see now that this is what’s missing. Thanks for the crit.

Perpetual: Thanks  I’ll take that as +1 on the tutorial.

Lemons with SSS coming soon…

Can my vote count as more than 1 if it will influence your decision on the tut at all? Great job!

SSimpossible: Yes, your vote can count as +5. It may be a few days until the tutorial is completed. But don’t worry, it will happen
