Here’s an idea … “real corners in wooden log structures usually don’t look like that.” The ends of the logs are usually notched in any one of several ways so that they literally “dovetail” with each other. You might wish to research that topic a little to achieve historically-accurate joinings.
I don’t normally invent anything I model. This cabin was modeled via the specs from the shed/cabin builder for an economy line of cabins that use fully squared off logs. The company approved the model and render. They have an internal locking mechanism that is not visible from the ends. So this is not meant to be historical, but rather a real world product.
