Let the texture give the partical a starting speed?

How ecactly dose the tex button effect the particles? What dose a white value of the texture do to the particles?

K, take a texture map, all black with the letter H in white in the middle. Add it to a nicely subdivided plane, add particles, up the Tex button you mentioned. now the particles will come out from the H faster than the black part.

It acts just like a bump map texture, only with particles doing the bumping.
