it takes only a few people doing this to seriously change the world for the better.
go to the site and choose your country then print out the list and try to apply them to your everyday life.
you don’t need to stick to every single thing on the list but the MORE THE BETTER.
i have knowingly bought ONE thing from the US in the last 4 weeks.
if only a few people around the world do the same then it adds up to MULTI MILLIONS of dollars in a SINGLE WEEK.
this is how we can stop the tyranical nation without hurting the general population (who are mostly innocent)
anyway DO IT FOR THE WORLD.
Alltaken
(if you don’t agree with me promoting this then remember FREE SPEECH, and also just don’t do what i sugest, you don’t need to battle me on it coz i am just sending out a public anoucement )
The general population is who a boycott would hurt. They would be the first to lose their jobs not the politicians or corporate slugs who started this whole problem in the first place.
Be careful who you are calling “tyranical” as I would certainly not descibe myself that way. “Tyranical administration” would be more accurate.

True, need to move the job out of slugs and politians tour the indivisial but we also need to take away most of taxes, fees, laws, regalation that preven self employ buissness and small buissness as well. Example, Dish network can’t use it’s dish as an antena for local stations, because it goes against FCC regerlation.
i don’t think you really understand what this boycott really does.
this boycott is aimed at COKE, PEPSI, NIKE, and all the other major players.
its not about NOT SPENDING MONEY, its about choose WHO gets your money.
now once i would have bought a coke if i wanted a drink, and MY MONEY would be sent overseas to the US where coke would get it.
but if i’m thirsty now i will get some JUICE, or buy a drink from a SMALL family owned store!!
its not about depriving people as much as it is about empowering the individual.
so i really don’t think you understand the implications of what you are arguing.
can i ask you a personall question.
do you like microsoft, or would you rather use linux??
would you rahter McDonalds got your money from lunch, or would you prefer that the local eatery got a bit of money??
yes this boycott is against AMERICA, but it is not aimed at AMERICANS, its aimed at the government which is economically driven.
but the SIDE EFFECT of the BOYCOTT is that the individuals who own smaller stores (the average family person may i add) gets a bit more moey.
so you saying it hurts the everyday person is BS, because infact it advantages the average person.
just not the average US citizen, i would much rather someone in my own country got my money than someone in another country (patriotism wasn’t invented by americans)
so your argument actually falls flat on its arse in that sense, sorry but your large companys have been hurting the average person in other countrys for years, and its time to give the average persona bit of an advantages!!
I agree, somewhat, Nike is slave labor, we must understand that what we buy has great influence on how people are treated. I try to buy organic and fairtrade product when I can, the other day, I ask someone working at starbucks if there coffee beans are fair trade, there is no record of fair trade so I stick with coffee that are fair trade. Here’s a list of fair trade coffee that you can find in stores. http://www.globalexchange.org/economy/coffee/resources.html
I think Tea & Leaf coffee is faretrade, has a very smooth tast.

OK, I said your’e aiming at the wrong target. I take that back. Correction >> To take aim you need to Identify a target and have the rudimentary abillity of lining it up with the sights and your eye. It seems you have trouble grasping that concept. Please excuse my tone (I don’t think any topic on this forum is worth derogatory, personal remarks), but I’m just answering in like manner.
You are right, of course, I don’t understand what this boycott really does, and maybe that’s because neither you, nor the websites you linked to can explain it with sufficient clarity. I do understand, with regard to the sentiments expressed, that all in the world is not hunky dory. What I’m willing to listen to is exactly what it is you want to change and how your’e going to do that. To date you have failed to put forward any relevant information that might change the views I expressed in my previous reply. In fact, your response only emphasizes my previous points. I’m not going to take credit for the following but I’ll quote it to give you a better understanding of where to aim at and what to aim for.
This in from Fullback:
but you might want to explain the significance of this link http://www.ccamatil.com/s02_our_operations/s2_05_new_zealand.asp to alltaken. 900 people out of a job in YOUR COUNTRY buddy. Then there are the truck drivers, the people who load them, the “local” stores he was so worried about with contracts they can’t get out of. Oops!
Surely Pepsi and Nike have similar arrangements in NZ as well.
That succinctly puts into perspective one of your principle points:
just not the average US citizen, i would much rather someone in my own country got my money than someone in another country (patriotism wasn’t invented by americans)
On the personal questions
I’ll buy whatever it is I feel I need if the price and quality of the product satisfy that need, with little or no regard for their affiliations to, or ranking on Wall Street. I could go on and on, but my only encouragement to do so would be some plausable, credible (and dare I say polite) explanation of the benefits of the boycott you propose.
I also agree that this boycott is majorly misaimed. Okay, let’s just look at the way things operate. Joe works for X Company which makes and markets its retail product internationally. X Company sells the product, and the profit after manufacturing, marketing, and shipping costs goes to the company. Some may be reinvested into the company, and some is set aside for salary. Joe gets his salary every two weeks, but every year a percentage of his salary gets taxed. If Joe loses his job, he loses his 60-70% of his earnings. The federal government only has a small stake in Joe’s job, so they take no hit from his loss, while Joe is unemployed. Do you see how little sense this makes? [!] Also, if X Company is a smaller, newer company, all the people (not fat-cat politicians) who worked to build this company are out of money and yet again the government takes little or no hit. There is no way this could work in practice. Just look at what happened when the post-WWI French adminstration ruined the German economy. The German people suffered, and the government ended up in the hands of Hitler. Just think about that.
The fat cats will pass the losses along to us working folk before it cuts into their wallets. My company will lay me off to avoid a damaging loss. And all I did to deserve that is work my tail off with no malace tward anyone.
Would someone tell me how many Americans are registered to Elysiun? Alltaken sounds like he’s talking about some super-small minority that gets stuff like this all the time. We DO get it all the time, but I’m pretty sure that we’re not a minority.
Oh, and the movement… Can you say “Great Depression 2.0?”
PS:

COKE RULES! There’s no way I’m going to give it up for the 2nd Great Depression to come about. Pepsi & Nike I could go without, but Coca-Cola is the best!
PPS:
So, what are we supposed to do if we want to buy, say, “Lord Of The Rings?” Oh, we’re not supposed to give money to New Line, so let’s PIRATE it! (I’m kidding. Don’t go and do it. Really. No, alltaken. NO! Get off piratedmovies.com!)
best way to fight against US tirany is total international pressure. boycott hurts does not only hurt fat cats or average people, it hurts all of the citizen in the united states. sale go down, wages do the same, employees deecrease, unemployment grows, receasion appears. another way is a nuke hitting the white house and the pentagon, with all of their workers in, of course there will be many innocent people, but it’s a relative loss for what can be considered a good eye for an eye, or a potential good. however we need a bigbrother in the world, wether we like it or not, US has used and abused its bigbrother state. it is necessary to supress things like saddam hussein, they gave the weapons they are now so afraid. but if the us didn’t stop him who would? not pope with speeches that finally don’t count. i’ll keep on my idea later
the target of the boycott for the people who would like it explained is.
THE US ECONOMY
this includes
THE GOVERNMENT
THE COMPANYS
THE CITIZENS
in that order of effect, you know that if wallstreet goes down in points everybody is effected, well you arn’t effected very much are you???
its not specifically aimed at the citizens, but they are a part of the US and a basicly hurt as a side effect of the whole thing.
the economy as an ENTIRITY is the only way to do anything, because if it didn’t effect any individual then there would be no effect on the economy as a whole.
like if everyone stopped buying WINDOWS or other microsoft products, sure it would hurt the workers but are they the target NO.
as for my last post i think if you will re-read it, there is MORE BENIFIT by giving money to the local eatery or family owned bussiness than there is by giving it to a big corpertaion, as a family owned bussiness has no FAT CAT, while a big corp DOES.
also the link you showed me mearly shows that Coca-cola Amatil has employees in new zealand.
it states nothing about how much profit is given to COKE in royaltys.
i really don’t understand why you are getting so offended at me choosing to spend my few dollars elsewhere???
it really baffles me that you say IT WON’T WORK, ITS A WASTE OF TIME. yet you get so worked up over probably not more than $1.50 a week of lost money to the US.
(well when it adds up its millions of dollars a week because of people all over the world participating)
and what do you have against me suporting my local stores and growers, are they somehow less entitled to my money than COKE is.
Nothing. Nothing at all. That is one of the benefits of capitalism; you get to spend your money on whatever you want, wherever you want, on products built or created by a nation you like or don’t like. Welcome to the capitalist jungle alltaken. Aren’t you going to turn into a pumpkin now or something? Capitalism, alltaken? How could you?
I think the general thrust of the argument against your boycott was this: If Coke determines that a negative spike in revenue is occurring in New Zealand they will likely either terminate or scale operations back in YOUR COUNTRY first. That means those 900 odd people employed will lose their jobs. Additionally, as I mentioned in my PM with Fligh%, many of the peripheral industries will also suffer. The truck drivers, the people who load the trucks, the small, local stores who have contracts with coke and generate revenue for the local economy will all be in the lurch.
You are correct in most of your points (about hurting the US at least), but seem a bit misguided about the ancillary problems it would cause in your country. There is no socialist money fairy alltaken. If those jobs are lost and coke divests in New Zealand’s economy, the suffering will pay a visit to your shores as well.
Also, keep in mind, when 291 million american consumers get wind of this little shakedown they are going to be a lot less likely to take vacations to New Zealand or put those lovely Kiwi fruit on their breakfast tables. That’s right alltaken, americans can get angry too and vote with their wallets. More problems for you.
This whole economic boycott thing is silly in my opnion. I don’t support the idea of boycotting French products because Chirac is a Gaullist and suffers from illusions of grandeur. There has to be a better reason than that. If any of those documents found in Iraq show France colluding with Saddam to in anyway harm US soldiers during the war well then, that would be a good reason. But until that case is made more effectively I will withhold judgement.
Just the other day I heard a very apt description of French/US relations put forth by Colin Powell during some Q and A session in front of congress. He said our two countries have been in “marriage counseling” for 225 years. How true. There are a lot of hotheads on both sides clamoring for a divorce but I don’t think that would be the way to go. Neither country would benefit from the sustained break in relations that an economic war would surely cause. A better option would be to do something that everybody over there has been asking for ---- pull our troops out of Germany and let the EU set up its own military force. We will save loads of money (on rent in Germany), and all that cash spent by the US government and by individual soldiers and their families will come over here. They can’t really complain because the socialists have been whining about those troops for decades. OK, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg — you pay for your own defense. You pay for the training, equipment upkeep and all the other little economic novelties you could count on the US dealing with in the past. You will not be able to support huge social programs AND have a viable military force without making some hard choices, and judging by the strikes in France recently, the decision making process is going to be entertaining.
Does this mean that if muslim fanatics attack the US again we get to turn the Middle East into a radioactive parking lot made out of glass? It would be a “relative loss” of innocent people, but it would be a “potential good” right?
Remind me to keep an eye on you if we ever take the same airplane flight.
if i am correct (which i may not be)
its a canadian boycott LOL. (i might be wrong)
ok i was right a quote from the website
Our USA neighbors, CANADA, run this Site. Think about it, they have been insulting since the first day George Bush was in office. He visited the neighbors to the south first Mexico; he ruined a life long tradition held by every president of the USA.
the thing is i am the ONLY person i know participating in the boycott, so to say its a NZ boycott is far from the truth.
around the world in EVERY COUNTRY on the list (the website has a list of countrys) there a a FEW people in each country suporting it.
and actually there are people in the US suporting it TOO (people who boycott the major players within the US, do exist and are quite a few in numbers)
anyway you would have to boycott the entire world to hurt the VERY FEW of us who actually participate in this boycott.
my parents don’t
my family doesn’t
my friends don’t
but i do.
it has nothing to do with politicians or our government (as some coments lead be to belive you think)
i infact saw it at about 2 am on a program called Queer Nation, which is like a new program for homosexual current affairs. a group of lesbians were talking about this passive protest that has been going on for years around the world.
and yes i am a part of capitalism so i may as well play by the rules!!!
and i will find it funny if the US boycotted EVERY country invloved in the boycott.
heres the list of countrys you would need to boycott.
(including USA)
Australia
Belgium
Bermuda
Brazil
Canada
Egypt
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Philipines
Romania
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States of America
its a minority thing and is totally up to the individual, i really don’t understand the agrevance you get from it existing. we are playing by FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, and CAPITALISM rules here yet we are still being classified by some as economic terrorists (dittohead)
ha ha ha it makes me laugh so much!!!
if you don’t suport the protest then don’t suport it. a simple choice that every person gets every day of their life.
