Since I live in the Montreal area, I’ll be gathering the information needed by the organizer, therefore, if anyone is planning to come, please let me know (by email or here). (I’m afraid the sponsoring offer only applies to developers though)
It’s not quite clear what the content of the meeting will be yet, but I’m assuming they’ll want people giving presentations of some sorts (Blender demos if you want), so if you’d be willing to do that, let me know too.
Make sure this year that you make presentations on features within Blender that will be of interest to developers of graphics programs (Gimp, GEGL, Scribus, Inkscape, Xara, etc)
I remember last year many of the blogs from people from other projects who attentended mentioned that they thought Blender was interesting, but didn’t find presentations dealing with things like modeling to be of much use to them.
Things that would appeal to these devs would be things like Verse, Node compositing, Multi-layer OpenEXR render output, etc.
Well, looks like I’ll be in Montreal that weekend after all - but looking at the programme only the GEGL and Blender talks really appeal (talks about file formats is too much like my day job!), so I think I might try to put in an appearance on saturday. Although that early after a friday night might be an interesting exercise for the liver.
