Libre Graphics Meeting 2007: Montréal

Copy from the BF-Committers mailing list

Since I live in the Montreal area, I’ll be gathering the information needed by the organizer, therefore, if anyone is planning to come, please let me know (by email or here). (I’m afraid the sponsoring offer only applies to developers though)

It’s not quite clear what the content of the meeting will be yet, but I’m assuming they’ll want people giving presentations of some sorts (Blender demos if you want), so if you’d be willing to do that, let me know too.

Thanks,
Martin

This looks really interesting, depending on my projects at school I’ll let you know if I’m coming soo enough!

been thinking about going , not sure yet.

I’m going to look into this - given I’m increasingly splitting my time between London and Montreal.

To be honest it depends on the program really. It seems to be begging for some sort of projects to be ongoing during it.

I guess I might drop by if I have nothing else to do.

Does that also means you’ll do a presentation, if you have nothing else to do?

How is it is it better than the blender conference?

Cool, just wondering is this going to be an mostly-english conference? My french is…well…

Company2: I’m not sure if you’re joking or not. No-one said it was better, it’s just located in Montreal, Canada, instead of Amsterdam.

Make sure this year that you make presentations on features within Blender that will be of interest to developers of graphics programs (Gimp, GEGL, Scribus, Inkscape, Xara, etc)

I remember last year many of the blogs from people from other projects who attentended mentioned that they thought Blender was interesting, but didn’t find presentations dealing with things like modeling to be of much use to them.

Things that would appeal to these devs would be things like Verse, Node compositing, Multi-layer OpenEXR render output, etc.

Mostly in English, from what I can read on their site.

Bassam will be there to talk about the Project Orange experience and will probably do bits presenting features so that would cover the users part.

I’ll do a general presentation and might do some development talk too, if people are interested.

Other speakers might be added later, as they confirm their presence.

We were asked by the organisers that anyone attend should fill in the onlne LGM signup, so if you are going to attend, please do so.

Well, looks like I’ll be in Montreal that weekend after all - but looking at the programme only the GEGL and Blender talks really appeal (talks about file formats is too much like my day job!), so I think I might try to put in an appearance on saturday. Although that early after a friday night might be an interesting exercise for the liver.

Are many Blenderheads thinking of heading there?
