Lift Off!

An animated automaton concept based upon my enduring fascination with all things that go Whooshrumble and a deep childlike love for intricate mechanisms and silly contraptions.

I worked on this personal project for about 6 months on and off, as changing circumstances allowed. I’d been using Blender for about a year and wanted something to challenge myself. Hoo-boy, did this ever! But it was also a great learning experience and a lot of fun at times… at others not so much. Of course we see all the things that are ‘wrong’ with our creations and this is no exception. From materials to lighting to camera animation, there are a ton of things that I would like to improve upon, but then it would never be ‘done’. So, perfection being the enemy of the good, here it is anyway; I’m calling this Good Enough!
