Light distorting effect

(Bapsis) #1

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to warp the light around things such as engine glow, heat or gas flow, to produce a clear wavy type effect.
Any ideas or links would be greatly appreciated, very muchly!

Cheers,
Matt

hmm…well… im not sure if itll work or not, but it sounds right in my head… what you could do is model the fumes around your engine(or just a subdivide fractal wavy cube around it) and give them a very transparent material…and use the refraction plugin to have the waviness? maybe itll work…

or you could use the Warp sequence plugin.

Heya theeth,

I thought i had remeberd seeing something like that on the old blender webpage, so i searched for that warp editor and found:

http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~mein/blender/plugins/sequence.html

which lead me to:

http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~mein/blender/plugins/sequence/warp/index.html

Now is it that windows.dll thing i download as the plugin, and how do i use a plug-in? Never done this before.
Oh, and im not just cornering you, theeth, for an answer, if anyone can give me information or links to such on plugins and using them etc… please feel free to write, dont worry its worth it, im cool. 8)

Cheers,
Matt

if you download the example blend on the page, all the info on how to use it should be included.
