Light glow without post?

I have a sphere set up with volume absorption containing a point light (as in image) but can’t get it to fade to nothing ?

Use a spherical gradient centered on the sphere (use object mapping) and adjust it with RGB curves until you get something you like. Also, for what you’re doing, it’s probably cheaper to render an emission volume instead of scattering.

An Emission object looks false, the glow is supposed to be interrupted on the opposite side of the hand. Use a spherical gradient with absorption ?
