light not going thourgh transparent areas


imagine you create a sphere and with voronoi you create a mask to make aprts of that sphere solid and parts transparent.

now stick a lamp into that sphere.

in theory because some areas of the sphere are transparetn the light of the internal lamp should shine through and illuminate areas outisde of the sphere.

in my case it doesnt work. i tried z and ray transparencies.

anybody has a clue what i am doing wrong or is this not possible?

Try clicking the transparent shadows button (TraShad) in the shader for the object that’s receiving the shadow… I think that will do the trick.

each time i turn on shadow everything outside is

argh … I forgot again that the TraShad is for the recieving object.
