Light not working??

The object in my scene isn’t getting lit by the light. it’s just a solid black color with no shadows or anything, it is lit when I render it though. Other objects are lit. Is this a problem with the material? I was working on laying out the uv’s when this happened. (I’m still pretty new so it’s most likely something noobish}

try going into edit mode, selecting all vertexes, and pressing ‘ctrl N’ ( recalculate normals outside ).

Hmmmmm that didn’t seam to do it. I guess that’s how blender is? I just saw a tutorial video and his light wasn’t affecting the textured object either. But it seams essential for a lighter to be able to see how the lights affect the scene roughly without having to render a thousand frames. Perhaps there’s some light viewing option??

lol, sorry for being so newby once again.

Alt+Z should give you the result in a view port, and/or you can set the textured face to be lit by going in edit mode, press F9 and tic the “Light” button and hit the respective “Copy” button!
