Light path for masking

Hello,

I hope you can help me. I’m using blender v2.72.

I’m following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyWmOFj6wi8 and I have an issue in one of the points.

In this tutorial a plane is placed on top of a text and the the plane covers the text. This plane has same color as the background acting as a mask to hide what is behind.

The set up seems easy. In cycles add a new diffuse material and add a Light path node. Link “is camera ray” to “color” in the diffuse and that’s it. The problem for me is that the plane gets a very similar color to the background but no exactly he same so the plane is “visible” I assume I’m missing something but I can’t see what it is.

The file related to this tutorial is here http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/75003. I’ve studied it but I can’t find what is my missing setting.

Thanks for your help.

You’ve linked to the tutorial and to a file that I assume works correctly.
What you haven’t given is your file that doesn’t work. Therefore how is anyone able to find the difference between your file and the file that works ?

Hi Richard,

That is a fair point. I was making a quick file to show my issue and I found the solution myself. The problem is that I had a light in the scene.
I’ve remove it and now is all good.

Sorry for wasting your time.
