light problems please help

hey guys, i would like to know how i can get my lights (spot, area, lamp, etc) to be the best it can be in the game engine, how can i get the halo, how can i texture, basically everything to know, but everytime i google about it i get the same useless links, if someone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated

It all depends on the scene, indoors/outdoors, the style your aiming for etc… Just don’t go overkill on real-time lighting, you will want to bake most of the lighting. If you give us an idea on the scene I’m sure you will get more help.

Also, do you plan to use GLSL or multi-texture as that can make a difference to how you think about lighting. Finally, what version of Blender are you using as that’ll help use know what tutorials to provide.

Anyway, here’s some tutorials that might help:
Baking - look at ambient occlusion
Light maps - old, but should still be relevant
Real time shadows - uses GLSL

Hey man thanks for replying, its an indoor house scene with lights hanging down, and i really want some sort of halo and a shine from the light, can i make objects illuminate light a light, and im using 2.5 but dont know how to switch from multi texture to glsl like you could in 2.49, im still getting used to everything
