Light spots in Yafray - Not an HDRI problem

Just trying out Yafray for the first time on my new computer, and I’m getting some strange white spots that I don’t understand. What’s going on here? Sorry if this is just a Yafray noob error, I couldn’t find anyone else with this problem using a forum search or the Yafray.org FAQ. The lighting is not HDRI, so it’s not a filter value problem.

PS The image took 20 minutes to render.

Turning off GI photons seems to resolve most of the problem, but there are still little black specks and render time shot up to half an hour! At that rate the 125 frame animation would take about 3 days to render and would still have black specs.:frowning:

are you sure that the model is ok (doubles…)?
maybe you could post the .blend

Here’s the .blend, but you may have to move the fluid domain out of the way to see things. (Unless you want to spend the time to bake the sim.) 152 kb The model is fine, no doubles and all normals are pointing in the correct direction. I’ve even tried deleting the photon light since my last post, with no effect other than making my caustics go away.

No solutions?

C’mon guys, I’m dying here!:frowning: Nothing I try seems to work.

Well, turning off caching seemed to solve the problem, but render time shot up once again to an hour. I am NOT going to render a 5 second fluid sim test for a week, so I gave up and switched to Blender Internal.
