So I have been playing around with my lighting setups, cause I always seem to go fo rthe damned fake GI shpere setup, and I have been getting some good results. I did this today at work:
I did some post in Photoshop for some colour burn and dodge, some blur and a little noise.
It is nothing fancy, but I am looking for any C&C on the lighting in particular.
Wow, not bad, tho it looks like it really would have hurt on the way out!!!
Not sure i can give you any lighting tips, since i dont know that much other than add lamps and move them around and play with values until the sceen looks good. hehe
The textures look good on the base of the statue (green wood type), and the statue itself, but the middle baise peice needs a little work, maybe a nice white and grey marble? Will leave that up to you!!!
Anywayz, nice work, and good luck with achiveing the “look” your after!!!
Maybe you could try varying a bit the colors of the light. It usually adds more depth to the textures. Not big variations, small ones (very light blue for example RGB = 0.9, 0.9, 1)
very nice! excellent lighitng… id suggest giving the statue a slimy brown/green texture and add some steam coming off… surround it with buzzing flies as well ;);)
Green wood?! Hmmm. Well I am colour blind, (Blue/Green), so it may look green, but it looks brownish to me. Oh well. I thought about adding something to the middle piece, but opted to just leave it.
Thanks LeeWJ!
I have 3 spots in this image. 2 are set to shadow and one is used as a fill light, (no shadow). The first light is set to 1,1,0.8 and the second shadow spot is set to about 0.75,0.8,1. The fill light, (@ndy will be happy ), is set to a bit darker blue than the second spot. with a lower energy.
When using subsurfs, just extrude the bottom until it is flat, then in Edit Screen, (F9), press the Beauty" button and then smooth. Makes nice bevels!
Thanks! mmmmmmmm, poopies!!
Hmmm, I Like that suggestion. Look for it on the next one!
I knew you were going to say it!! HAHA! See reply to theeth. And thanks dude!
