Well, Lightflow was dropped as development for Lightflow has stopped. eeshlo’s export script, (do a search here for it), worked flawlesly, and I can say that cause I used it. I did get a lot of nice results with Lightflow and it was very easy to use, especially with the script.
As for current external renderers, YAFray seems to be the big one right now, and ther eis also POVray support out there.
but i d use yafray those times. it seems to be a very strong renderer to me.
i am doing - and maybe publishing - some comparisions yafray / povray, and i think, that yafray is going to kick ass
I have to say, I REALLY like YAfRay. Its nice and fast and has lotsa nice options (HDRI, UV texs, GI; Standard, but nice) Some really nice export scripts too. Do a search for Yable or Yablex or check out the new exporter written by guitargeek called ‘Extractor’ over at yafray.org in the forums.
Personaly, I like Yablex, even if it doesnt work with 2.28
I have recently tried blender 2.28 with both lightflow and yafray…both with no luck. I didn’t try the new fix for yablex but I will do that soon.
BTW - I’m currently on a machine that has win XP but I’m not using it with admin priveledges - does this stop me from using these renderes properly?
Also - with yafray - everytime I tried to render a scene - the renderer would crash! Sometimes I could not even get the machine to parse the last half of an import (it would just freeze) and it also seems that no information was being exported except for camera infor and lights…but no mesh? Weird or am I just not doing something right? :-?
No problem there at all. That’s the way I run YAFray.
You are doing everything properly. The link I posted previously fixes this mesh export issue. Try that version of yablex, or the others that jms has posted. All should be fine then.
