Hi,
I´m working on this project, a conceptual archaeological reconstruction. It´s almost done, but I think ir can have a better lighting than enhaces the project. The textures are white and grey materials, so I think this needs a really good lighting. After trying differnte things, finally I added a Lamp and connected it with nodes to an image texture, as light source. I also added a sun, to light a too dark part of the model. As I say, better lighting can be done that enhaces the final renders.
I attach the Blender file. If someone has advice on how to improve the scene with a goog lighting, will be so grateful…

to match the correct exposure, there is a easy method, known from fotografic, that can be used in blender too, that is the greycard method.
you have to use filmic in the colormanagment, for this.
first make a diffuse material with 0.18 rgb values and use this for your mainobject.
then select falsecolor in the colormanagment and tweak your light strength until the main object with the 0.18 grey are looking grey with falsecolor.
then switch your material back and set from falsecolor to filmic and chose the desired look in the colormanagment, basecontrast is a good start.
Why don’t you get yourself a nice HDR image? That could improve the looks with very little effort. https://hdrihaven.com/ is full of amazing HDRIs for free.
Good idea! I tried some HDR images from the add-on Pro-Lighting Skies (Blender guru), but I couldn´t reach a good configuration and the result wasn´t good. I will give another chance to HDR images. Thank you!
Sounds good, but complicated. I haven´t tried that kind os adjustments. Could you perhaps give me some concrete steps on how to do that? If not, I will make some research to find out, ´cause it´s really interesting!
it isnit complicated.if you have done it once, you see how easy it is.for HDRIs this method is even more usefull because your HDRIs have very high dynamic range in light strength, and filmic is a must ,if you use HDRIs for lighting.otherwise your highlights are overexposed without filmic.
here are quick video about HDRIs and filmic.
Thank you ver much! You ´re right, it´s new, more than complicated. The overexposed highlight with the HDR-lighting was one of the issues I had, so I can understand how much filmic matters. I will try it. Thank you, and also for the video!
