hi,
I was cleaning up my files the other day & found all the great lighting examples here:
Lighting Tutorial by Kroni
Thanks to Kroni for permissions, I packed all his .blend lighting example files into 1 .blend file, with the examples in individual scenes.
Also I added my Materials Library so there’s plenty of presets to play with.
Here’s the Lighting_Examples.blend
I hope you find this as useful as I do in examining & learning lighting & materials.
Enjoy.
Wow, this is incredibly helpful! Great way to check out different lighting/material styles, thanks Meta!
remember this one in 2.49 and good short intro to lighting
i checked out the site for this tut and don’t see anything about environment light or indirect ligthing GI and Render branch for 2.5 !
do you know if he is going to add theses 2.5 new features in his tut
it would be great to see it updated to full 2.5
Thanks happy 2.5
thanks crazycourier.
hey ricky, this is designed for mainly for beginners.
I have many more lighting set ups & lighting styles, studio render set ups, cornell boxes & other useful things.
As I sort through my collections & move things to 2.5 & get permissions from authors, I’ll be certainly releasing more packs.
Thanks!
i like this little tut on lighting short and very explicit + sample file
and looking foward to see a more updated version for 2.5
Merry christmass & happy new year
Thanks and happy 2.5
Thanks good stuff.
oops…posted on the wrong thread/forum!
Nice lighting explanation. I only disagree about AO. It is not a lighting technique, since it doesn’t depend on the lights. It doesn’t define the light, it rather defines contact shadows and bring out details in the geometry and creates contrasts. (And the gamma should of course be .45454545… instead of .5)
But it needs updating for 2.5, we’ve got some new things for indirect lighting and color management.
here’s a test I did.
model from Honda.
this used the hdri_kitchen preset. Quite a good result out of the box really.
