Lighting

Hi,

I’m currently following a tutorial and I come up with this upon lighting my owl.
Some feathers are darkened whereas they should not. I tried flipping the normals outside but it did not work. I’m using Cycles (in case it has any importance)
Can you let me know what to do ?

Thank you for your replies.

Welcome!

Are you using any special material setup, or is this just the default white material?

Yes this is the default white material setting.

If that is the case, there must be something wrong with the mesh. Maybe overlapping faces? If you go in edit mode, select everything and do a “merge by distance”, does it help?

Don’t just Flip the normals as it is probably just the dark ones that are reversed and flipping just makes all the good ones flip…instead: in edit mode use Alt+N and select Recalculate Outside to fix all of them

Thank you for your replies, I fixed it by selecting each darkened feather and resetting their origin so that they are not inside the mesh anymore.
