Lightning Boy Shader 2.0 - A New Workflow for Stylized Animation

Following our popular toon shader tutorial series, we are excited to release the new generation of our Lightning Boy Shader. Rebuilt from the ground up to unlock the full potential of real-time rendering in Eevee / Blender 2.91, this new workflow is designed to free artists from all the technical problem-solving of stylized material design, letting you focus on pure creativity instead. Thanks to dozens of highly-customizable features, a powerful new layer panel, drag-and-drop painterly styles, and an intuitive masking and light-linking system, Lightning Boy Shader 2.0 is a versatile tool which can greatly speed up the texturing, lighting and compositing aspects of making stylized animation, whether you are a novice or an advanced Blender artist.


We are a small team of 3 Canadian filmmakers developing an animated project called Dinomancers, which we hope to turn into an original series. The money we raise selling this shader will all be invested towards achieving this dream and making more tutorials on our YouTube channel. In an effort to continue pushing Blender as the leading platform for NPR creation, we will also be donating 10% of the money towards the BEER fundraiser. This fantastic project shares many similarities with our approach and has the potential to take the core ideas of this shader to the next level in the years to come.

Lightning Boy Shader 2.0 comes with a complete 25-page user guide explaining all the features and how to get it running. However, we recommend watching the following overview video first to learn the basics and see it in action!
