Lining up replaceable body parts?

I’m making a character that will have replaceable body parts. There will be a head, torso, legs, hands and feet. What I did was make it all one body, weighted it to the rig to my liking, then separated the pieces so the weight lines up smoothly and it still moves seamlessly. I am just unsure how I would go about duplicating the original part (weighted how I wanted) and then modify it. When I extrude, it seems to have no weight, but some of the extrusions have to blend naturally with the rest of the part. If I re-attach the mesh to the rig, it doesn’t line up with the other body parts anymore. Does anyone know how I could solve these issues? Any help would be much appreciated. :slight_smile:
