From the link to object menu
how do i copy a material to a new one then i can modify it :evilgrin:

ctrl+L for the link menu, and if you want to make a material user exclusive ( a brand new version of the material that your object already has, but a copy applied only to that object ) try the U key for ‘make single user object’. I think that only works on the material itself, and not the textures it’s using though. i think.
