I’ve created a torch flame with particles, smoke, and an animated light. I made them into a group. I linked that group into an new file. Everything is fine so far. When I duplicate the group, or make an instance of it, everything gets duped or instanced except the light. I have to go to the transformation panel and switch to…is it Gimble? Gimple? The only “G” transformation. Then the light shows up in the instanced or duped group. I wonder why? I looked up the help article, and there’s nothing specific to the light issue. Not so much of a problem as an…I wonder why it needs to be switched? And isn’t this one of those things that would completely freak out a beginner? I’ve heard rumblings about making Blender very accessible to beginners. I’d recommend that issues like that be taken care of automatically…perhaps a line of code…“That dude is trying to make a new instance of this lamp! I’ll switch to the correct type of transformation automatically, because I’m a really smart computer!”. You may need to tweak that code a bit. Thanks for your thoughts.
