Linking armatures with different bone structure?

Hello, I was just hoping someone with more knowledge than I could help inform me whether or not it’s possible to transfer actions/data from one rig to another in which the second armature has a different bone structure? Thanks for taking the time to read this any help is much appreciated, have a great everything!

Keyframes are attached to bone names. They are measured in bones’ local axes. If bones have the same name, the action is easily assigned to either armature; but if they don’t have the same local axes, or the same hierarchy, or the same constraints, then the same action won’t do the same thing.

It’s possible to create rigs to “retarget animations” from one rig to a very different one. This isn’t really a beginner job though.

As said, not something super easy to do, but if I was going to try it, I’d likely use this add-on: https://github.com/pKrime/Expy-Kit

You would need to fully define your own bone name mapping, but that’s something the add-on lets you do and even save the settings.
