Linux, Static and Dynamic

Hello,

Its been a while since I’ve been here. I’ve basically moved to a ‘real’ operating system (Linux) and have been configuring and playing around.

I’ve got an older version of Blender installed (2.37a static) and was looking to get at least 2.40. One thing I’m not sure about is the difference between the static and dynamic version available for download. What does this actually mean?

Thanks for your help.

Hello

quick explanation:

the static version it’s meant to people who don’t have hardware acceleration
Most of the times under Linux, this means, that you don’t have proprietary drivers
installed ( ex: the NVIDIA ones)
But, if you’ve downloaded the, for ex: NVIDIA driver at nvidia site and get it to work you should definitely use the dynamic version
Bye

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I’ll download the dynamic version then
Thanks again.
