Lip Sync Animation - Need Feedback

Hi guys made this quick lip sync animation with Blenders free rig. Would love advice on what I can improve on and what is good. Thanks!

The lip-synching is good. I can’t offer any improvement suggestions on that.

The last body pose, however: the elbow is bent back too far (looks uncomfortable or double-jointed in the last frame), and I would rotate the out-stretched hand a bit (15-30°) so that the palm is more upward facing… but that’s just me.

The facial emotions (acting) are also pretty good at the start, but again the last frame looks insufficiently enthused: a big ****-eating grin would seem more appropriate – get the mouth out of neutral, show teeth, get the eyes smiling (bunching upward under lower eyelids), and probably lean the body forward into the expected hand-shake. You need to sell the complete 180° reversal from initial reticence to "Of course I’ll play!!!   ".

(I have fans on now (it’s hot), but even so I had to run my volume all the way up and listen 4 times to make out the full dialog. It may behoove you to pump up the default volume a tad. The second character is particularly difficult to parse: “a million yearly.” I think.)

Overall, you’ve done a good job. My nit-picking is all really minor stuff. Thanks for sharing!!

It’s pretty good already ! In general the motion feels natural and the character alive.

What you can try to improve is to start putting a bit more exaggeration. In general the motion and expression is what we would expect from a realistic character, but since it’s cartoony, you can try to push the cursors and give the animation a bit more style in general.

This is very solid so far, just could use some polish.

The hand movements add to the acting nicely, though it is stiff at some parts.
When he emphasizes “a job” the hands suddenly stop as he throws them up. You should let the hands overshoot a little bit then settle to make the movement feel a tad more weighted.
Additionally, adding some details in the fingers with some overshoot or overlap will make all the movements feel a bit livelier.

With the body posing, I would add a bit more to the shoulders. The character is unsure initially, so it’d be good to show that with some slight shrugging as he’s moving his hands around, especially when he emphasizes “-kids” and “-a job”.

Like shannonz said, the lipsync is good, but the more you exaggerate the facial expressions, the more it should show in the mouth. The audio will give you the best cues to emphasize expressions. For example, on certain words the eyebrows might flex up and the lips might be pushed out or up to make it just a bit more interesting.

TL;DR the more you exaggerate and the more detail you throw into this the better it’s gonna get. Good stuff!
