I have ben messing around with the liquid tool in blender and I can’t seem to get my computer to…well compute a simulation on any thing but the ICOSpher, could someone tell me if I’m setting things up wrong or if my computer just can’t handel such a big task?

The liquid feature can be quite slow, especially if you have the resolution set very high or maybe your fluid object contained many poly’s.
If you think the prob is with your comp, show us some specs then.

Have you actually rendered a frame or two from the simulation? In the 3D view, the full glory of the fluid is never shown. For instance, If you have a cube as the fluid, the 3D view will only show a few specs of mesh in animation depending on the domain settings.
Other than the icosphere, what other things have you tried to make the fluid? Have you tried recalcuating the normals of the more complex meshes that you use for the fluid?
I have tried using a rectangle with just regular square polygons, but all it did after I baked it was freez for about three minutes and get rid of the domain object. So I’ll try what you suggested earlier about the normals.

I didn’t bother to save the project.
When you bake, the domain actually becomes the fluid object. You should be fine as long as you have an inflow or a chunk of fluid within the domain before baking.
You can follow this tutorial so you know what’s supposed to happen during a fluid simulation.
