Hey all
this is the girl i am texturing, and not quite sure what to improve…
(note that the hair and eyebrows are placeholders currently)
any suggestions would be great as to the texture (and i already know the lips arent quite right) thank you!
I will update with a larger render with fixed lips and specular map soon.
I was just about to say few things about the lips, but since you are allready fixing them, … i’ll stay quiet about them. Cant really comment the rest of it, since i am not really that well versed in skin texturing myself.
Well heres a render without the sss layers so you can see the surface textures better…the lips have not been fixed yet…

That really good, you have a really raw talent for texturing. I Recommend using the 3 layer SSS technique
http://bensimonds.com/2010/05/31/three-layer-sss-in-blender-demystified/ this is a really good article about it. I think the bump should be a bit more strong
I would suggest downloading this:
http://www.paste all.org/blend/3810 (delete space to get link to work)
To get something like in here:
Uber realistic head o yeah
But I also noticed you bump is very poor. Sculpt some detail with textures from here:
Zbrush alphas
- unfortunately u need Photoshop to convert them to png or something. You can use them in belender or sculptris (better IMO) and apply as bump or normal. Remember - bump is everything for realistic skin.
thank you very much JoseConseco for the links…
i realise the spec map is pretty terrible on that shot :S
im thinking i may just do away with sss as it seems its nearly impossible to blend the layers corrrectly without making it all blurry like that… i have seen good results with it though…and tried the most reccomended settings and yes i did adjust the scale so it is physically correct. but its either too much scattering and monotonous/blurry looking or has no noticeable effect on most areas only… even in sintel the sss leaves a lot to be desired…i think it is best for achieving a stylised result…but for subtle skin of a young girl and to be resonably physically correct…it doesnt work fr me so well…strange though in 2.4x i seem to remember getting much nicer results albeit not for a character such as this…
