update

not really sure how to do the lighting
and i need to fix the curtain

I’ve found that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G9cMi8QAa4 might have some useful stuff for this type of room.

yeah i had a brief look through that tutorial, i will probably re watch it later today

changed the hdr
but im getting alot of fireflies now

Have you used portals? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oveSskhIEAc
Have you opened the room? Like have only the visible walls and not the others?

This is really coming along. Why not in 2.75a try a light portal over the window. It could cut the noise quite a bit. Also as you’ve noticed not all HDRs are created the same. Anyway looking good and going in the right direction for sure.

Also don’t forget to check the MIS box for the world texture if you haven’t already, that can really cut down on the noise because it will tell Cycles to prioritize the sampling of bright areas.

@traffo @theoldghost, ive been using portals
@Ace Dragon, thank you i didn’t even know about the MIS box

changed the painting
messed with clamp direct and indirect a bit not really sure how it works but it seemed to get rid of the fireflies haha
added some windows out of view opposite of couch and changed the hdr brightness
still a bit of noise, not sure if i just need to render more samples or change some settings

This is one frame out of an animation with a bottom feeding graphics card. Clamping in this case is a gift albeit if you clamp to much your range will suffer. Contrast / Brightness. Watch for that in the Filter Glossy which I haven’t used here. If doing a still why even clamp. Hell, just let it eat for 2500 passes. Or 5000 thousand for that matter. Those of us interested in animation have renders running for days.

you improved very fast from the first rendering!
For the fireflies have you tried to enable the multiple importance samples and tried to tweak the glass material in order to avoid some kind of light path on it?, for that kind pf scene i suppose you might need only shadow, diffuse and glossy from the light path. that should lower your fireflies a lot, if you have not done it yet.

You might as well consider of scaling down a bit the wood texture of the floor, liker that it seems to me like a macro shoot of a table rather than a floor.
good work since now, keep on with it!
