loading backround pictures

Hi, it’s my first time here
Actually I do not create games, but I translate (into Polish) a book about Blender (“The official Blender Gamekit 3d interactive for artists”, Roosendaal & wartman). I have a problem with one tutorial. Author tells me to load background picture from CD. This image is in .jpg format. I’m in appropriate folder, but I can’t see any files! Why my Blender’s browser doesn’t show .jpg files? Please help

Best regards,
Baracuda

Just checking that you are loading from the correct window = Shft-F7?

Image file could be corrupted. Try to load another format or another jpg.
Use an image editor to resave the image under a new name and then try to load it again. I tested and could load jpg and jpeg in 2.23.

Thanks a lot!!!
I resaved file under other name, and it works!
But anyway, I think it’s a strange situation. Files .jpg in other folders show up, but not in this particular folder. File is not corrupted (there should be 3 files in this folder), I’m in right view. Very interesting…

Best regards,
Baracuda

There’s a file stored in directories that blender has visited in the graphical/thumbnail image file mode. The file is named .Bpib. Blender seems to be a bit tempermental in updating this. I know even on a normal hard disk I have to go up a directory and then back down into a directory containing images if I add a new image there and blender has been there recently.

If there is a .Bpib file in the directory on the CD-ROM you’re trying to load the file, I’d bet that if you were to copy the contents of the directory from CD-ROM to writeable disk of some sort, that you’ll be able to load the file you couldn’t load without having to rename it.
