Loading custom shaders

I’m a little confused by the talk going around about GLSL materials, so I’ll just ask, can I load my own custom shader files into Blender, or am I limited to working within the limits of Blender’s default material framework?

A couple of Blender users over on another forum mentioned any shader I can dream up is now possible, but I’m having trouble finding the interface to get started with it. (And no he wasn’t refering to the material node editor)

Thanks!

Custom shaders are called “plugins”. This value appears in the drop down of the texture selection TAB. Simply write your own texture and you can use it.
