I am trying to come up with a professional logo design. And here is what I have so far. This is my second model in blender. Its not in compositing stage yet. Its still in design mode. My partner told to post it up here to see what people think? Its a long way from saying its a complete design, but if you have any suggestions please help. First how do the earphones look? Are the earphones proportioned with the letter M?
I tried to do indirect lighting but i guess my settings are not right. The idea is to have the letter M stand out and glow. For the earphones I would have rather used real textures for it but I wanted to try making my own materials for the metalic/plastic parts.
If you were me, how would go about designing this piece?
Looking good so far - my suggestion would be to keep it simple. Logos should be accessible, low detail. Not low rendering detail but low in that the viewer doesn’t need to figure anything out. The headphones look great as a modeled object but feel too detailed for a logo. Imagine how this might look printed on a business card, would you be able to instantly tell that they are headphones?
Take a look at the Napster logo (although not in 3d) - It hints at headphones and it’s instantly discernible.
A designer professor once told me that a logo should be simple enough to draw in the sand - just something to think about.
As for making the M glow, what about a TRON like glow along he edges? Just a thought.

PS: additional random thought - what if the headphones (or part of the headphone [still low detail]) were reflected in the M?
i agree, the best logos are really simple. once you have a good simple logo, you can then do something interesting with it; say, put it in orbit or something.
Cool, thanks for the input, I actually havent told you what its really for, I should have titled it Intro instead of logo. In reference to these links below, I was trying to create an intro for my new youtube channel, to do vids with. I think I want to do something like have the image glowing in the dark, and then turn on the lights and see the full image. Does anyone have any good material settings for metal? @rabassa- Tron glow on the edges, ok I will try it.
@ Casio- I do have mirror on the second image but its bouncing too much of the background on the M. I think its a good effect but not what I really wanted.
