Looking for a more recent boxcutter/HardOps vs fluent discussion

Hi everyone,

As the title says, I’m looking for an up to date conversation on the differences between a workflow using BoxCutter/hard ops vs the one used for fluent or any other hard surface modeling add-ons.

In the past, I’ve worked with Cuber and Ice Tools by Ian Lloyd de la Cruz, but I found the documentation to be lacking and the interface to be confusing, though the tools worked exactly as advertised. I’m thinking the add-ons were more of a way for him to speed up his own workflow.

I’ve more recently moved on to using a combination of BoxCutter and Hard Ops along with MeshMachine. I’m a huge fan of how well documented these all are, and how well they synergize. I feel like the interface for MeshMachine could use a bit of a makeover, but it’s clear and does the job. five months ago, I would’ve said the same about BoxCutter and Hard Ops, but the recent updates have been pretty choice imo.

I haven’t used Fluent, but the videos make it seem like it has a really slick interface, and that it’s kind of laser focused on being all about that sweet sweet hard surface. But that’s about all I know about it.

That are your thoughts and experiences? feel free to bring up any add-ons you think someone should look into if they’re doing hard surface.
