I’m on the lookout for 2-4 Beta readers in the New Year to assist me with my book, and give much needed feedback. I’ve received some preliminary feedback from my Alpha reader (who is around 2/3 into the book) which is encouraging enough for me to take the next step.
The role is voluntary, and will require you to read the manuscript in chunks, and then answer questions and give feedback based on what you’ve just read. In all, the draft is split into 8 sections, generally with 10-15 questions per chunk, though that might fluctuate. At the end, you will be sent a final questionnaire which will cover much broader, sweeping topics. There will also be ample chance for you to give feedback that isn’t covered by questions. Any potential feedback can be as long or short as you like, just remember that it’s very much a WIP, and so feedback should be constructive. (Unless it’s rubbish of course, in which case, go nuts!)
I’m putting feelers out in a few places, though I have had a couple of people in the past express interest when posting book related artworks here, hence the post, though I reserve the right to be picky in who I choose – assuming there is any interest at-all – and won’t be sending my manuscript to any Tom, Dick, or Harry that goes ‘Yeah, I’ll read it’. There is a huge trust element here, which I’m sure you can understand.
The Book itself
Here is the WIP Blurb I wrote:
In the late Twenty-Third Century, humanity descended into chaos and destruction. Civil wars, revolution, and desperate power grabs – the likes of which the world had never seen – left the world shattered, and humanity on the brink.
But from the ashes of the broken world, humanity unexpectedly rose anew, driven by unexplained advances in technology, and a sustained period of wealth and co-operation.
Kara, a former Hunter, has spent the past three years searching for answers, trying to uncover the origins of a mysterious symbol on her wrist. Her search has taken her far and wide, but after three long years, and little to show for it, she begins losing hope of ever discovering the truth. But then, unexpectedly, she receives an anonymous message – a message pointing her to a highly secretive prison on the outskirts of the Kuiper Belt.
What she finds changes everything, and leads her down a path that puts her, and the people around her, in danger.
Can she learn the origins around the strange marking, all whilst unravelling a sinister plot that threatens to send the world back into chaos?
I’d call it a Sci-Fi Action Thriller/Mystery, though I do actually ask at the end how the reader would categorise it.

I don’t generally do new years resolutions, but I do have the goal of getting this book finished/published in 2024, so…
