Looking for feedback on a school project

For my school project, I decided to begin using blender. I have created a Powerpoint document that basically outlines the tools that I used and how I created my first modeI. keep in mind that I have left quite a few things out to keep it short. would love to be able to get some feedback on things such as how good my methods were, what I could have done better, what improvements would you suggest, how do you view the depth of knowledge that I have shown, are there any major areas that are missing, and what suggestions would you give to help me improve my blender skills.

Hi @Boyd_Neilson,
Just took a look at the link again on my PC, it says the organisation has blocked access. Are you using a school Google account, I think they may be blocking outside access, if possible export it to a PPTX or PDF and upload it to WeTransfer (https://wetransfer.com) then share the link, or to Blender Artists directly.

I’ve realised that my school has it so that you would have to be in the group to view it, I will create a copy of it in a different google drive associated with a different account and then give you access

here is the link, this should work: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1it3seV0WQb2Td4dIvb7VwEOmcOSCs_XM/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109668072730320613348&rtpof=true&sd=true

Great thank you, I will take a look on my PC later today, I will take a quick look on my phone now but can’t give you detailed feedback till later.

Just a quick look I think it all look about right, give me till the end of today (UK time roughly 8pm UTC 7PM) and I should have some more detailed feedback.

Here are some suggestions

  1. You may want to include scaling and rotating in the glossary, even though these are simple terms they are very important in the world of 3d modelling
  2. Did you use any reference images, if so you may want to explain how the helped you in the modelling process
  3. You said you didn’t finish the project, but did you create any renders if so you may want to explain the lighting, camera, and render engine
  4. Did you use any other modifiers, if so you may want to explain how they are useful since they provide a non destructive way to apply changes

Also just some quick thoughts did you do any texturing or geometry nodes?

EDIT: HERE ARE MY OTHER IDEAS ADDED LATER

  1. Explain what the shade smooth is doing, for example how it is affecting the display of the normal

  2. You may want to explain the different selection modes in the edit mode, for example vertex select, face select and edge select

  3. You may want to add some further details about what can be done with the final model, for example some brief information about animation.

Overall I think you have done some great work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my work, I want to relay my gratitude to you as this feedback will all be extremely beneficial to me and I can’t thank you enough.

also as a side note, no I didn’t look into anything to do with texturing or geometry nodes, however I will be sure to look into them in the future!

Thank you for your kind words, if you ever have time texturing and geometry nodes are really fun. Were any of my other ideas useful?

If you want to learn geometry nodes I would recommend you look at and try to re create a simple node tree, you can take a look at my weekend challenge entry this week (Challenge #1157 "Flag / Flags" (22/08/25) Entries CLOSED - #6 by Withers99), it is a fairly simple node tree. You don’t have to do any of the materials or attributes if you don’t want texturing, see below for a simplified node tree of it.
