Looking for help learning fantasy designing cloths

I can’t find anything on this topic. I searched. I want to learn how to design fantasy cloths for game characters. I can’t find anything about fashion either. If I had some references to fantasy cloths that would give me some help, but I can’t find nothing about this either.

I was able to find something on the topic. https://rollforfantasy.com/guides/clothing-creation.php

I was talking about design and not the modeling. I am glad you responded to my question.

One thing that might help is to think of some existing characters, games, films or shows that you like and then search for those. That might lead to something.

For designing cloth, Marvelous Designer is the best there is.

Hi @humanartist

When I want to create or designed new fantasy clothes then I look on Google an klick on the button “pictures”. I try it with “fantasy clothes” or “Elves” for example. Think about it, what did you want to have. Want you a Orc, then try it with the search “Orc”.
When I have founded what i search, then i draw it. Sometimes there are the arms. at a other picture, it is the neck. And then I Try to combine this. When you make it often, you will become better.

Sometimes I look here:

I hope, you understand, what i mean ( I’m from Germany) and i could help you.
Love,

A key thing to remember on that point is that if your target is a game, you should also understand the limitations of cloth on the platform it is for. This will inform the design as much as anything. So a good study of game characters and cloth used will be valuable.

For example some game platforms can import Alembic, which you can export from Blender as moving cloth or Marvelous Designer. There are also some cloth tools in some game apps.

Having a very good understanding of how all of this works is not just a good idea, it is absolutely necessary. You will have to take the time to learn the cloth creation, modeling and export process yourself or work directly with someone who knows this who can guide you. You can not design the cloth until you know exactly how the cloth pipeline is going to work. And that includes modeling techniques as well as understanding simulation. Or understanding how to rig with bones when you need to have little or no simulation at all.

This is the first time I have heard of Alembic. I’ve heard of marvelous designer, but it seems it was for modern day type of cloths. It also looked like the cloths come from a library.

I have learned how to model the cloths and do rigging. What I need help with is design. I think what I am missing in design for cloths, is references and practice. It’s hard for me to look at artstation and yahoo or google images, because some of the content that is posted makes me sick. And when I say sick, I mean it makes me ill.

It’s true, I don’t know the pipeline. I am not going to be able to work with anyone, I have to do this solo. I’ll have to depend on the tutorials.

There is a tutorial I am searching for I seen. It was modeling Juliet from a movie. How to make realistic portrait of the actress, and making the realistic likeness of the cloths too. I can’t find it.
