Looking for voice over actors(acting experience not required)

Im looking for voice over actors for a short blender film I’m working on.I’m posting on this forum along with a few others to make sure I find somebody willing to do this. Here are the characters and a few lines from the movie. If your interested please record yourself and post the files on this thread. I’ll select who I want to use for the movie, and send them the script. Please note you will not be paid, I am looking for people willing to do this for free, I will of course put them in the credits.

Character:Joe
Age:20 ish
Gender:male
discription: Joe is the more simple minded of the two. Think Shaggy from the cartoon scooby doo, mixed with a surfer dude voice. He tends to hold
his words out a bit, and say them odly slow.

Character:Moe
age:20 ish
Gender:male
discription: Moe is the leader, and brains of the two. He tends to yell when he speaks. He sends his words out quick and with
confedence, often with an impatient tone.

Here is a snipet from the script: the lines are very short and shouldn’t be hard. Feel free to try both characters.

Movie opens with a car sliding out of control into a turn. The car speeds past camera as several police cars come sliding into view. A chase scene unfolds as the first car is shown speeding past several other cars, police close behind the getaway (Transition to inside car).

Joe (yelling) Maaan, hurry up or we’ll never make it on time!

Moe (impatiently) I’m going, I’m going!
Joe (still yelling) Well go faster!

(Transition back to outside car)

Runaway car recklessly dodges through traffic as police struggle to keep up.

(Transition once again)

Joe (frightened)Um, Moe!

Moe (yelling impatiently)Yeah, what!?

Joe (still frightened) Um, look.

Joe points ahead to a sign that says ‘bridge out’.
Moe slams on breaks as the two of them go screaming forward toward the sign. They both look at each other whilst screaming and manage to unbuckle themselves and jump from the car. They go rolling onto the pavement as car continues on crashing through the sign and is sent flying into the air. They collect themselves in time to look over the bridge and see the car explode on the valley floor.

Posting some screen shots from the animation you have already done would probably spark a lot more interest.

I would do it just to help, but my mic is shot.

I would love doing something like this, but I’m afraid I’m:

  1. Not 20 ish
  2. Our mic isn’t exactly the best
  3. The internet transfer time would be really slow with our dial-up.:frowning:

I have always wanted to be a voice actor.

I agree that a screenshot of each character would definateltly help to work on a voice… or are you going to model from the voice?

Well, I’ll post screen shots then. I just planning on finding a voice that matches each character. At the moment I am working on moe, when I’m finished I’ll post a picture. I’ll be ready to animate the in car scene as soon I finish him, and have the voices. Anyway here is a preview of Joe.

Feel free to record yourself even if your not certian about your voice. I might just like it.

Heh, I might be intersted in doing Moe, send me an e-mail at [email protected]

ok, I’d be glad to e-mail you, thanks!

Hello every1, still looking for more applicants.

im curious… how much of the actual movie have you done?

well, obviously not much considering the fact that I need the voice over to be done before I can lypsinc any of the dialog.

not necessarily… you could have done some basic animation and do the lipsync a little later =)

have you seen some of pixars/ final fantasy’s work in progress? its hilarious to see them move around and acting without talking =P

Usual way is to have the audio and video of the actors as base for the lipsync and facial expressions(Pixar and Dreamworks do this). Or have a mirror ready and try to mimic your expressions in the mirror and copy those to your characters (Pixar). A webcam can do this too.

I was in amsterdam at a studio and they provide all the phrases already spoken so the voice actors have only do it over and then you get different voices but with the intension the director wanted.

I’m dutch so I dont think this is a job for me, altough I like to.

well, My plan for the lip syncing is the simple: have the actors record it, Then base my lipsyncing on the recording they send me. Other wise it might get confusing

I think the point that everyone here is trying to make is that they have no reason to trust that you’ll actually finish the film. This is for a couple reasons:

  • You’re a new guy. You have all of 40 something posts at this point and no one really knows what caliber of work you do or what kind of work ethic you have.
  • There are always people starting posts about projects that they aspire to do. Everyone is looking for help, but most of those projects die before they even really get startedDon’t take it personally. Theres just a lot of jaded people around here that aren’t going to get excited about a project unless they can see some progress right now.

Some decent animation, a website, more stills of sets and characers, etc. would probably generate more interest. To get people into your project, you’re going to have a hell of a lot of work to do

Luck.

I agree with dante.

I’d be interested in . Email me at [email protected]. I would prefer to do moe.

I am “40-ish”, so maybe I can do the voice over for the trailer. That deep voice that says, “Coming to a theater near you.”

Actually, if you want to hear my voice visit here…

My ‘modified’ voice is at the VERY beginning, but then you’ll hear my natural voice in the Home Shopping scene where I describe the plastic, (and I did the old-lady phone voice too).

By the way, I made that video and the following too…

Have fun

thanks for your interest spin and sh33p. As for finishing the film I fully intend to finish it, and was merely looking for two people to do the voice over for it. I guess I didn’t figure that I would have to inspire to much interest in my film yet to get a mere two people or so do offer their voices. Maybe your right though, I’ll post more screen shots to inspire an interest in it.

For all those who were asking for more pics from my movie here is an update. This is My second Character Moe for anyone interested. I am still looking for people to do the voice overs for me. Thanks.
